By information filed in the Circuit Court of Dunklin County the defendant. Claude Ancell, was charged with murder in the first degree for having shot and killed one John Scarborough in said county on March 15, 1931. Upon his application he was granted a change of venue, the case being sent to the Circuit Court of Stoddard County where it was tried on December 18 and 19, 1931. Defendant was convicted of manslaughter, his punishment being assessed by the jury at six years' imprisonment in the penitentiary.
