POSNER, Circuit Judge.
This appeal requires us to interpret the arbitration clause in a collective bargaining agreement. Some background will help clarify the issues in the appeal. When an employer and a union negotiate a collective bargaining agreement they usually include both an arbitration clause, as the last step in a grievance procedure designed to prevent the discharge of employees without just cause, and a no-strike clause.
