OPINION
{¶ 1} On July 17, 2001, the Franklin County Grand Jury indicted defendant-appellant, Radwan Nasser, with four separate counts of endangering children, one count of felonious assault, and one count of felony murder. The offenses arose from the death of his three-year-old stepdaughter, Layla, and injuries suffered by his five-year-old stepson, Jamamil, in July 2001. The case was tried to the court without a jury.
