Defendant, Robert E. Buening, was arrested on October 18, 1990, for driving under the influence of alcohol in violation of section 11— 501(a)(2) of the Illinois Vehicle Code (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1989, ch. 951/2, par. 11 — 501(a)(2)). On November 9, 1990, he was charged by information with driving under the influence of alcohol. On January 3, 1991, defendant filed a motion in limine seeking suppression of all evidence regarding the administration of the horizontal gaze nystagmus (HGN) test.
