Holly Sheehan, an employee of the United States Postal Service, slipped and fell on ice in the parking area of the Framingham post office while on the way to work early on the morning of February 6, 1989. She was injured in the fall and brought an action against El Johnan, Inc., the owner of the real estate from whom the United States of America (predecessor to the United States Postal Service) had leased the post office property in 1967 for a term of thirty years, with eight five-year extension options.
