The respondent, the Commissioner of Correction, appeals from the judgment of the habeas court in favor of the petitioner, Jennifer Helmedach, granting her petition for a writ of habeas corpus. 1 On appeal, the respondent claims that the habeas court improperly concluded that the petitioner's trial counsel provided ineffective assistance of counsel by failing to inform the petitioner of a plea offer until after she had testified at the underlying criminal trial.
