This is an appeal by the defendant, the Director of the state penitentiary at Lansing, from an order of mandamus issued by the district court. Appellee-plaintiff, Joe Arney, is an inmate of the penitentiary and appellee-plaintiff, Ferrine, Inc. (Ferrine), is a corporation whose business includes the production of television programs. The television show “Lie Detector” was one of its productions.
