Plaintiff Aliene W. Brice, a Norfolk Social Services employee, pled guilty to the crime of obtaining disaster relief food stamps under false pretenses. See Va. Code Ann. § 63.2-522. She has now filed suit against the investigators and prosecutors who brought her to justice, alleging selective prosecution, retaliation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and defamation.
