The appellee brought suit upon the guaranty of a promissory note, made as folioavs :

“ Chicago, February 23, 1894.

On or before one year after date I promise to pay to the order of Harriet K. Carmichael twenty-five hundred dollars, Avith interest at the rate of 6 per cent per annum, payable annually at the office of William D. Kerfoot & Company, Chicago, with interest at 7 per cent per annum after maturity, value received.
