A. Prudent Hebert was charged in a bill of information filed by the district attorney with the crime of forging a check for $290,-000 drawn on the Calcasieu-Marine National Bank of Lake Charles, La., purporting to have been signed by his brother, Dr. Louis Hebert. When arraigned, the accused had no counsel, ’ but personally entered a plea of not guilty. Subsequently the court appointed counsel to represent him.
