Nature of the Case

James DeMoss was charged in a six-count indictment with aggravated sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child by sexual contact, and inducing sexual performance by a child, all occurring “on or about” February 28, 1996, and March 15, 1996. A.V., 1 a thirteen year-old girl at the time of the offenses, was the complainant in each count. A jury convicted DeMoss of each of the six counts.
