Defendant is a Pennsylvania corporation of the first class, formed, under the Act of 1874, and its supplements, “for beneficial and protective purposes to its members from funds collected therein in accordance with the bylaws of the association.” It receives from those joining a fixed entrance fee, as well as dues, at stated times, and owns and maintains a clubhouse building in the City of Scranton.
