The defendant, Scott Northrop, was charged with the crime of murder in violation of General Statutes § 53a-54a.1 He was tried to a jury and con*407victed. The trial court subsequently sentenced him to a term of imprisonment of forty-five years. The defendant does not contest the sufficiency of the evidence to sustain his conviction.
