This is a suit by Granger & Lewis, lumber merchants, against the Merchants & Miners Transportation Company, a common carrier, operating- steamboats for the carriage of passengers and goods between the port of Savannah, Georgia, and tbe ports of Baltimore, Maryland, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Lumber is one of tbe commodities which tbe carrier professes to carry.
