[¶ 1] The law firm of Cloutier & Briggs, P.A. appeals from a judgment entered in the Superior Court (Lincoln County, Brennan, J .) in favor of the law firm of Howard & Bowie, P.A., determining that Clou-tier & Briggs had been unjustly enriched by retaining the entire contingency fee from the proceeds of a settlement reached in a case in which Howard & Bowie had been the original attorneys of record for the plaintiffs, and had been discharged by the clients after completing some work on the case.
