TOAL, Chief Justice:

Calvin Alphonso Shuler (“Shuler”) was sentenced to death for killing guard James B. Brooks (“Brooks”) during an armed robbery of an Anderson Armored Car. Shuler appeals his murder conviction and death sentence. This opinion consoli dates Shuler’s direct appeal with the mandatory review provisions of S.C.Code Ann. § 16-8-25 (1985).
