Gerald Gordon was charged, along with his friend, Chris Jackson, by indictment with the possession of a stolen motor vehicle. (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 95V2, par. 4 — 103.) Gordon was tried by a jury while Jackson selected a bench trial. The trials were heard simultaneously. The jury returned a verdict of guilty against Gordon, but the court found Jackson not guilty.
