Mrs. Ethel Bush Ittner sued the New York Life Insurance Company on an insurance policy to recover double-indemnity benefits, her petition alleging that the death of the insured resulted directly and independently of all other causes from bodily injury effected through external, violent, and accidental means. The defendant filed an answer in which it denied the allegations of the petition and contended that the death was due to suicide. The jury found for the plaintiff the amount of the double indemnity, and $350 attorney’s fees. The defendant moved for a new trial on the general grounds, and…
