¶ 1. Menard, Inc. and Zurich American Insurance Company appeal the denial of their motion to dismiss Blaise and Karen Mahoney's complaint against them. The motion was based on the fact that the complaint served on Menards1 was unsigned even though it was nonetheless authenticated by the clerk of courts. The complaint on file with the trial court was signed. Menards claims that despite the authentication and despite the signed complaint on file with the court, the lack of a signature on its copy is a fundamental defect that deprived the court of personal jurisdiction over it.
