It appears from the record in this case that the appellant herein, V. H. Chronister, on the thirtieth day of March, 1895, purchased of David Gillespie, of Lincoln, Illinois, a stock of groceries and the fixtures for the sum of $1,173. At the time he made this purchase he was engaged in the grocery and six other kinds of business in Decatur, in this State, and was about twenty-seven years of age.
