OPINION

STEVE McKEITHEN, Chief Justice.

This is an appeal from the trial court’s revocation of community supervision. We reverse the trial court’s judgment and remand the case to the trial court for further proceedings consistent with this opinion.

A jury convicted appellant Raimond Kevon Gipson a/k/a Raimond Gipson of assault on a family member. The trial court assessed punishment at ten years of confinement, then suspended imposition of sentence, placed Gipson on community supervision for ten years, and assessed a fine of $500.
