I. Background

This is plaintiffs’ second appeal from a bankruptcy court judgment barring as untimely their complaint to avoid a judicial lien under section 522(f) of the Bankruptcy Reform Act of 1978,11 U.S.C. § 101 et seq. 1 In the previous appeal this Court reversed the bankruptcy court’s holding that a lien avoidance proceeding brought under section 522(f) must be filed prior to a debtor’s discharge in bankruptcy.
