REAVLEY, Circuit Judge:

The State of Louisiana, through the Respondent, Warden Burl Cain, appeals the district court’s judgment granting the 28 U.S.C. § 2254 petition of Salvador Perez. Perez was convicted of first-degree murder of a police officer and sentenced to life in prison for shooting New Orleans Police Officer Chris McCormick. Perez asserted at trial that he was not guilty by reason of insanity. We agree with the thorough and well-reasoned opinion of the district court that the state court unreasonably applied established Supreme Court precedent concerning sufficiency of the evidence…
