Appeal from a judgment of the County Court of Broome County (Mathews, J.), rendered May 2, 1995, upon a verdict convicting defendant of the crimes of attempted murder in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and assault in the second degree.

In the early morning hours of June 16, 1994, defendant entered the apartment of Michael Oranchak in the City of Binghamton, Broome County, and shot him in the shoulder.
