This appeal involves the issue of whether the state was negligent or made negligent or intentional misrepresentations in the placement of a mental patient on plaintiffs’ dairy farm without disclosing his alleged fire-setting propensities. Recovery was sought for damages from a fire which destroyed the entire contents of plaintiffs’ barn on the evening of January 12, 1970. By stipulation of the parties, a nonjury trial was held on the liability issue only before Judge Robert E. A. Boyle in Centreville, Michigan, on April 25 through April 28, 1978.
