Plaintiff instituted this suit against the Caddo Parish School Board under the provisions of the Employers’ Liability Act (No. 20 of 1914 of Louisiana). He alleged that he was employed as a painter by defendant to paint certain school buildings in Caddo Parish; that while performing the services for which he was employed, a scaffold broke, causing him to fall to the ground a distance of 12 or 15 feet; that he sustained injuries which have incapacitated him for life for doing manual labor of a reasonable character.
