Nathan F. Leopold, Jr., the plaintiff, brought an action in the circuit court of Cook County, which was in the nature of a suit alleging a violation of the right of privacy. The defendants included: the author, publishers and several local distributors of a novel and a play, entitled “Compulsion,” and the producer, distributor and Chicago area exhibitors of a related motion picture of the same name.
