MEMORANDUM OPINION
PRENTICE H. MARSHALL, District Judge.
This class action, brought under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, 42 U.S.C. § 2000e to 2000e-17 (1976), involves allegations that defendant Montgomery Ward, Inc. has discriminated against female employees in its merchandising division, denying them training, pay, and promotions available to similarly situated male employees. On March 26, 1979, Judge Decker of this court certified the case as a class action under Fed.R.Civ.P. 23(b)(2) on behalf of female salaried employees of defendant’s Chicago merchandising group…
