These are direct appeals by defendants Jerome Gardner and Dwight Mason who, along with Franklin D. Gilchrist, were tried jointly on indictments for murder. On November 7, 1966, the jury returned verdicts finding defendants Gardner and Mason guilty of murder in the second degree, and each was sentenced to a term of 25-30 years in the ETew Jersey State Prison. Gilchrist received sentence of 20-25 years on his non vult plea entered during trial.
