Plaintiff purchased the realty located at 4750 North Hermitage Avenue in the City of Chicago (the City) on October 27, 1987. A house and a 30-foot by 50-foot garage were situated on the property, which was zoned R4 general residence district, although previous owners, including the sellers, had used the garage for commercial purposes.
