This is an application for a certiorari.

The relator charges that in two suits for rent brought against him before the Justice, defendant herein, he was illegally condemned to pay $7.50 in the first, and $10 in the second ; that in the trial of both cases he offered to prove payment by receipts in his possession, which the Justice refused to permit him to introduce in evidence.
