OPINION

FORSBERG, Judge.

Y.B. was sexually assaulted on December 27, 1984. A few hours after the crime was committed, appellant turned himself in to the St. Louis County Jail to serve time on two unrelated misdemeanor offenses. A complaint was filed on February 5, 1985, charging him with two counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct in violation of Minn.Stat. §§ 609.342, subd. 1(c) and 609.-342, subd. l(e)(i) (Supp.1985).
