Ellen E. Chapin died August 27, 1916, leaving a will dated January 26, 1916, by the terms of which she gave all her property to her daughter, Helen E. Mosby. Besides her daughter, Helen E. Mosby, Ellen E. Chapin left surviving her at "her death a son, Harry E. Mosby, and a husband, Quartus H. Chapin, who died March 3, 1917.
