The defendant, Norman Taylor, was charged with the offense of unlawful use of weapons in two separate indictments. Indictment 72— 3467 charged him with carrying a concealed weapon in violation of section 24 — 1(a)(4) of the Criminal Code (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1971, ch. 38, §24 — 1(a)(4)), and indictment 73 — 2167 charged the defendant with carrying a loaded revolver in violation of section 24 — 1(a) (10) of the Criminal Code (Iff. Rev. Stat. 1973, ch. 38, § 24 — 1(a) (10)). Both indictments carried a second count charging the defendant with the unlawful use of weapons within 5 years of his release…
