In 2008, Claretha Ross was convicted of two counts of theft by deception and sentenced as a recidivist to twenty years, to serve ten in prison, consecutive to a sentence she was then currently serving for a crime committed in another county. Her conviction was affirmed on appeal. See Ross v. State,
