DUBOFSKY, Justice.

We granted certiorari in People v. Honey, No. 82CA0887 (Colo.App. Sept. 22, 1983), to consider whether the district court erred in excluding opinion evidence regarding the truthfulness of the complaining witness. The court of appeals held that the district court’s exclusion of the evidence was proper because a trial court has discretion to exclude irrelevant and immaterial matters.
