DUBOFSKY, Justice.
The district attorney for the Sixteenth Judicial District, Stephen A. Tisdel, appeals the decision of the district court that the County Commissioners for Bent, Crowley and Otero Counties could decrease his salary for the second year of his term of office. We reverse.
Stephen A. Tisdel was elected district attorney for the Sixteenth Judicial District on November 2, 1976, and began his four-year term of office on January 11,1977. At the time he took office, the salary for the district attorney was $33,000 per year. That salary had been included in the budget for the 1977…
