Johnny Lester Colson 1 was convicted of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1), and sentenced to fifteen years incarceration. He appealed his conviction and his sentence.
FACTS
According to the evidence at trial, Johnny Colson and his brother, Kevin Colson, were selling jewelry out of their car at a gas station on October 10, 1988. Lee Ske-nadore, the government’s key witness, and some of his friends purchased some jewelry from the Colsons, and they believed that the jewelry was real gold.
