OPINION

This case came before the Supreme Court on the appeal of the defendant, Gerard J. Collins, from a judgment of conviction of one count of driving to endanger, death resulting; one count of driving under the influence, death resulting; four counts of driving to endanger, personal injury resulting; and four counts of driving under the influence, serious bodily injury resulting. The defendant was sentenced to serve fourteen years at the Adult Correctional Institutions, followed by sixteen years suspended with supervised probation, with an eleven-year period of license…
