SEYMOUR, Circuit Judge.
This is an appeal from a conviction for assault with a deadly weapon and bank robbery in violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 2, 2113(d) (1976). Appellant Gipson, an indigent, argues that he was denied his Sixth Amendment right to counsel because the trial court refused to appoint counsel other than from the Federal Public Defender’s offices in Kansas. Because Gipson did not wish to be so represented, he appeared at the trial below pro se, with an attorney from the public defender’s office acting as standby counsel.
