Following a bench trial, defendant, David Perez, was convicted of murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1981, ch. 38, par. 9 — 1(a)), attempt (murder) (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1981, ch. 38, par. 8 — 4), and two counts of armed violence (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1981, ch. 38, par. 33A — 2). At the time of the incident which led to his conviction, defendant was 16 years old. Following his conviction, defendant was sentenced to terms of imprisonment consisting of concurrent terms of 35 years for murder and 10 years for armed violence; consecutive to concurrent terms…
