delivered the opinion of the court:

A jury found defendant, Levi Smith, guilty of armed robbery (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1973, ch. 38, par. 18 — 2), and a sentence of from 5 to 15 years’ imprisonment was imposed. On appeal, defendant presents only one issue for review in seeking a reversal of the judgment or, in the alternative, a reversal and remandment of the cause for a new trial.
