SULLIVAN, Chief Judge:

During October of 1989, appellant was tried by a special court-martial composed of officer and enlisted members at Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort, South Carolina. Contrary to his pleas, he was found guilty of larceny of a subordinate Marine’s diamond ring, in violation of Article 121, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 USC § 921. He was sentenced to a bad-conduct discharge, restriction for 30 days, forfeiture of two-thirds pay per month for 1 month, and reduction to pay grade E-l.
