Respondent was admitted to the Bar at a term of the Appellate Division, Second Department, in March 1977. On July 19, 1985, he was convicted in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, upon his plea of guilty to one count of a 10-count indictment charging him with "willfully and knowingly” presenting false documents to the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) containing false statements of material fact in violation of 18 USC § 1001.
