This proceeding is brought to determine what *454statutes are in force regulating the registration of voters entitled to vote at general elections to be held within the state.
The original registration law was enacted in 1889. (Laws Sixteenth Session, page 124.) To remedy inconveniences and defects, made plain by practical operation of the law, in 1893 the legislature made a number of material amendments to several of the provisions of the act of 1889.
