After an extensive investigation of James White, the police executed a search warrant for his apartment. In doing so, the police found Ebony Russell, (James’s girlfriend), Jan White (who is James’s mother and the defendant appellant) and Eric Coleman (Jan’s husband) standing near the walk-in closet of the master bedroom.1 Jan had been staying with James at his apartment for several weeks because she had recently undergone leg surgery.
