At the general election held in this state in November, 1888, defendant Joseph Bobleter was elected state treasurer. He duly qualified, entered upon, and discharged the duties of his office for a term of two years. He was re-elected in November, 1890, and again in 1892, beginning his last two-year term on the first Monday in January, 1893. Before entering upon the duties of his office at the last-mentioned date, he, as principal, and each of the other defendants, as a surety, duly made, executed, and delivered to the state a bond in the sum of $400,000, conditioned for the faithful discharge…
