The question presented, I agree with the majority, is whether the public building exception to governmental immunity1 ap*172plies to a slip and fall injury occasioned by an accumulation of grease or oil2 on a hallway floor.3

The circuit judge granted summary disposition, finding that Wade did not allege a "defect in the building itself.”4 The Court of Appeals reversed, stating that a governmental agency "has a statutory duty to maintain its public buildings so that the members of the public who are on public premises are protected from dangerous and defective conditions of the building.”5…
