This was an action of the case brought by tiie plaintiff, a vender of tickets, against the defendant as Post-master at Belfast. There were five counts in tbe writ — but stripped of all technicality, the action was to recover damages for the refusal of the assistant Post-master to deliver a letter addressed to the plaintiff, containing a prize list of the drawing of a lottery in Portland and delivering it to a person not authorised to receive it: in consequence of wliicb, the plaintiff bad sold a quarter of a ticket for seventy-five cents, after it had actually drawn a prize of $2000, or $500…
