A newspaper, the Claxton Enterprise (“the Enterprise”), sued the Evans County Board of Commissioners (“the Board”) alleging violations of the Georgia Open Meetings Act, OCGA § 50-14-1 et seq. The Enterprise sought to enjoin future violations of the Act, to obtain meeting records, to void any action taken in violation of the Act, and to recover attorney fees and costs of litigation. Following an evidentiary hearing, the superior court ruled that one of two closed meetings was closed in violation of the Act and awarded the Enterprise $1,500 in attorney fees. The Enterprise…
